Nico de Boinville helps our Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign
Three Valleys podcasts are delighted to announce that top jockey Nico de Boinville has agreed to be the face of our Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign.
Nico’s face will now appear on all Press releases and stories connected to our campaign as we strive to alert all males in the Racing Industry of the benefit of early testing for this awful disease.
Obviously being one of the country’s top jockeys Nico’s involvement will be minimal, but just this small involvement we hope will help spread the word even more.
Prostate Cancer affects 1 in 8 men in this country and as high as 1 in 6 if you are black, which just illustrates how vital it is to keep the pressure on for a National Testing programme which, to date, the Government and NHS have failed to introduce.
Plenty of other sports governing bodies have huge awareness campaigns, especially the Football Association.
As we have built up a large collection of contacts we are pleased, following discussions with Prostate Cancer UK, to be able to undertake promoting the awareness campaign alongside our weekly Podcast upload of The Racing Show.
We have already carried out 2 mass mail outs to jockeys, Trainers and Racing media asking our contacts to distribute a small flyer and Nico’s involvement, we hope, will keep up the pressure to take a PSA test.
Alongside this undertaking we are also contacting Weatherbys and The Jockey Club to seek help from respective organisations.
Please please help us to publicize this worthy cause.

THE RACING SHOW
The Three Valleys Racing Show has proved to be one of the station’s most popular shows with a regular audience tuning in every week.
Since we started the show we have attracted some of the real heavy weights of both National Hunt and flat racing, including Colin Brown who has been a regular on the show since it started.
Colin, as I’m sure racing enthusiasts will remember, rode the Nations’ favorite Desert Orchid but his talents are now used in trying to tip a winner every week!!!
In addition to Colin, our trainers include Jamie Snowden, who is had a fabulous year winning two Gold Cups with the help of Gavin Sheehan who also can be heard on the show from time to time.
Flat trainers include Rod Millman, a regular since we started with a weekly spot, Epsom Trainer George Baker and Gloucestershire based trainer Richard Phillips. Lambourne trainer Roger Teal is also a regular on the show.
Former jockey Dane O’Neill has also recently joined the station following his sad decision to hang up his whip and colours after a bad fall at Wolverhampton. Dane will be joining the team from time to time to offer his thoughts on the upcoming weekend racing.
ITV Racing has supported the show brilliantly with Ed Chamberlain, Matt Chapman, Richard Hoiles, Mick Fitzgerald, Luke Harvey, Jason Weaver and Oli Bell all being guests on the show.
We’ve also enjoyed the company of Nicky Henderson, Clive Cox, Fergal O’Brien, Ralph Beckett, Gay Kellaway, Joe Tizzard and many more trainers from both codes of racing..
The excitement of The Cheltenham National Hunt Festival is always a high spot in our year with extra coverage from our National Hunt team. The Festival will see a daily show analyzing the day’s card so all possible winners will be highlighted.
So if it’s winners you are after, make sure you listen to The Racing Show every Friday evening – by clicking here.
COOL HAND LUKE WILL BE STICKING TO FISH & CHIPS NOW!!!
Perhaps when he was offered some gloves he should have been slightly more suspicious but Luke is always up for the challenge, but as you will see maybe next time he’ll stick to Fish and Chips!!!!!!

TOP JOCKS ON THE RACING SHOW
First Nico de Boinville agreed to come on to the In Conversation Show and The Racing Show to chat about his life as stable jockey to top trainer Nicky Henderson. The fact that Nico is the only active jockey to have won a record number of Grade 1 races makes it an interesting listen. Nico has also agreed to come on the show from time to time after he adds to his amazing winning record, something we are delighted to accept.
As it was Grand National week Adi Hopper approached three times Irish Champion Jockey Dave Russell to follow Nico de Boinville and come on to the In Conversation Show and The Racing Show.
Davey, of course is only the second jockey to have won The Grand National in successive years on the same horse, Tiger Roll and has entered the Racing Hall of Fame alongside Brian Fletcher who rode Red Rum to two straight victories.
As with Nico we will have access to Davey on any suitable Horse Racing topics.
