OFFSHORE RADIO
Three Valleys Podcasts have been lucky enough to acquire a unique collection of literally hundreds of hours of recordings from the offshore era of British Radio.
T
hanks to a chance meeting with Ray Robinson, an offshore expert, Robbo has given us exclusive access to his huge library including Radio Caroline, Radio London, Swinging Radio England, Radio Scotland, Britain
Radio, Radio Atlantis, Radio Atlanta, Radio City, Radio Sutch, Radio 270, Radio 390, Laser 558, Radio North Sea International, Radio Invicta and King Radio.
Generally, the sound quality is excellent considering some recor
dings are nearly 60 years old and these recordings give you the opportunity to take yourself back to the swinging sixties.
Having been just 17 years old in 1964, host Adi Hopper grew up with the Pirates and was hooked on it right from day one.
“Yes I grew up listening to Radio Caroline, Radio London, Swinging Radio England and into the 70’s Radio North Sea International and they were very much a part of growing up.
“It’s what gave me the radio bug and finally led me to a short spell running my own Community Station in Three Valleys Radio.
“But things change and the popularity of Podcasts has led to this change in the Three Valleys Broadcasting history.
“So I do hope that listeners to our Off Shore Radio memories will enjoy going back to the swinging sixties and look out for our for my “In Conversation” Pods with the late Tom Edwards, Keith Hampshire and the late Johnnie Walker, the greatest DJ of all time and three of the most well known presenters from the MV Mi Amigo, all those years ago.”
If you remember the Offshore Revolution then these podcasts are definitely for you.
